Cheri•Good Pattern Patter,Summer, 2009
July 9, 2009
Trying to catch you up on what has been happening at Cheri Good Quilt Design. We have several new patterns for you on our website. Diamonds in the Field is a spring-like design using a Layer Cake (a Moda product) with additional fabric for block background and borders. Our Floral Sampler Jelly Roll Strip Quilt explores simple blocks that are sewn together in strips. The center strip presents a perfect place to arrange a yo-yo floral garden using the new Quick Yo-Yo Maker or using the traditional method. Our Batik Choices Quilt has been a best-seller! Lots of options including six different layouts and choice of quilt size give the quilter many possibilities. Squares & Stripes combines two blocks - a four-patch with a striped block to create a scrappy look, tied together with a bright inner border and a sunny yellow block background and outer border. Finally, Take Me to the Mall Shopping Bag brings two coordinated prints together with decorative trims to create an easy-to-make bag that will have many functions. All of these designs are on the 'Pattern page' on the website.
Cheri is currently at The Fabric Patch in Montclair, CA, for the Southern California Quilters Run. This is the second year that we have participated with The Fabric Patch. Last year, we designed a quilt using Hoffman's specially designed fabric for the Run. This pattern was only available at The Fabric Patch. This year, Cheri is representing Cheri•Good Quilt Design on the first few days of the Quilters' Run. She is autographing patterns and selling our patterns in the shop. I am recovering from my first (of two) cataract surgery. I am feeling a little guilty since I have not had a bit of pain, scratchiness or anything since my surgery on Monday. Just have some restrictions about lifting and bending that kept me close to home. We will be teaching our Batik Choices pattern at 35th Avenue Sew and Vac in Phoenix, on August 22, 2009. 35th carries all of our patterns and has been very supportive of our work. We were guests at their booth at the Arizona Quilt Guild Show in Mesa in March, working with Barb Goodrich and Connie. Cheri, then, went with Barb and Connie to the Prescott Quilt Show in June. At each of these venues, Cheri has worked hard to get the word out on our patterns!
In March, our quilt club in Las Sendas had their fifth annual show. We have 30 active members and I am always amazed at the creative work that is displayed. About 110 quilts were exhibited, about a dozen of charity quilts and two Quilts of Valor. We had almost 300 people attend this year's show . . . a far cry from the 75 guests that attended our first show!
Happy quilting, Audrey & Cheri
