Cheri•Good Pattern Patter>
Houston and More!
November 8, 2008
Our fall has been very busy. First, we designed two new patterns, "Turning Nine-Patch Jelly Roll Quilt" and "Framed". Both are pictured on 'What's New?'page on the website. Turning Nine-Patch uses one Jelly Roll plus additional fabric for sashing, backing and binding and the sample used Moda's Merry and Bright fabric line. Framed features a fussy-cut focus fabric surrounded by a mitred fabric frame. Our sample features a rich palette of red fabrics, but this pattern can be adapted to photos, animal and kid prints, redwork, pictorial fabrics, landscape fabrics, and many others. We are hoping to get a new design to you near the end of the year or the beginning of 2009. Check the website for updates.
We went to the International Quilt Market from October 26 - 29, 2008, in Houston, TX. It was a treat to just visit the booths and to learn about publishing, fabrics, designer lists, etc. We were so exhausted carrying all of our books, catalogs, samples, and freebies that we made several trips back to the hotels to unload and refresh.
We drooled over the fabric manufacturers' booths which were the most prominent booths at Market. New fabric products from Moda include "Sweet Rolls", 40 - 1 1/2" strips of a fabric line and "Turnovers", 5 1/2" fabric squares which have been cut diagonally. Joining 2 triangles make a 5" half-square triangle block (with seams). They can be used with Charms! The one that we saw had 80 triangles. Don't know if that number will vary with the fabric line.
Back home now, we are trying to let all of our Houston experiences settle in before we follow up. All in all, Houston did not disappoint. It was our first market and we learned a lot!
We were just back from Market, when Cheri flew to Danville, Illinois, to teach a class on November 3, at Threads of Time Quilting and Fine Fabric Quilt Shop. Our Four in the Corner Jelly Roll Quilt was the subject of the class and it was a big success! From November 3 through December 8, Threads of Time is also hosting our Trunk Show of seven quilts. During this time, quilt shoppers will see the quilts first-hand and can purchase patterns for these quilts at the shop. This is truly a destination quilt shop with wonderful facilities for group retreats and classes. Our thanks to Bill and Missy Gouty for a warm welcome for Cheri. Photos and more on the trunk show and class are featured on our website.
Cheri will be in Payson, AZ on the weekend of November14, as a guest of 35th Sew and Vac (Phoenix) booth. If you are in the Payson neighborhood, visit the show and say 'hello'.*
