Cheri•Good Pattern Patter for August

August 15, 2008

We attended the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA, from July 24 - 27, 2008. Our home base was the Queen Mary which allowed us to shuttle back and forth to the nearby convention center without using our car. A trip back in time, the ship was a welcome sight at the end of our ten-hour days at the show.
As guests in The Fabric Patch's booth, it was a great opportunity to experience the show, from set-up on Thursday to take-down on Sunday. Mary Echlin and her Fabric Patch staff were fun to work with and we thank all of them for their help.
About 11,000 quilters attended the festival on Friday and Saturday and at about 7 PM each day, we felt as though we talked to every one! We got the word out on our patterns, met many nice people, and sold a lot of patterns.....what more could we asked? Our latest design, Four in the Corner Jelly Roll Quilt, sold out at the show. It is still available online, so check it out.
This was the first Long Beach show and was organized by the same people who do the Houston Market and Festival in the fall. Open to the public throughout the three days, this first-effort in was clearly a bigger event that they anticipated. Food vendors ran out of food on the first day and the line to get into the show went around a very big block. Both of those things were under control by Saturday. Sunday was much slower, and it ended at 3PM which was a good thing!! Audrey's son, Rob and his girlfriend, Christie, drove down from Santa Monica and Christie's family (from Long Beach) and our friend and fellow qulters, Linda Schoeppach and her daughter Carrie, all enjoyed dinner at Porter's Lighthouse to wrap up the weekend. Then, it was back to Mesa on Monday morning. The next day, California, near Los Angeles, had a earthquake!
On other news, the Fat Quarter Shop, an online shop (www.fatquartershop.com)is now carrying five of our patterns. Website visitors can check out 'Finding Our Patterns" page for a list of shop which have our patterns. Of course, our online shop has our complete pattern line.
